Ellen Broderick
Ellen Broderick is a dance instructor for the Arts Center. A Louisville native, she has been contributing to the local dance community since 1981. Dancing since the age of 4, Ellen began her love for teaching in her parents' basement for the neighborhood children. In 1982, while earning her Bachelors Degree in Psychology at Bellarmine University, she began teaching for a local studio. After 10 years of teaching, she opened Ellen's School of Dance in 1992. Her studio was for all ages interested in learning dance 'just for fun', or for making it their career. After a successful 26 - year run, Ellen decided to close her doors. Ellen specializes in tap, jazz and lyrical, but has also taught ballet, acrobatics and creative movement.
Throughout her teaching career, Ellen has judged national dance competitions, choreographed the Louisville Junior Miss program (1989-2000), has choreographed several national award winning routines, and was the former choreographer and technique coach for the East Oldham Middle School dance team. Several of her former students are working professionals throughout the United States as performers, choreographers and teachers.
Ellen is married with 3 children, 4 step children, and a granddaughter. She loves sports (still playing volleyball), watching HGTV, and playing the piano. Ellen is excited to bring her experience and passion for dance to Art Center.
