Chandra Emerson

Chandra Holloway Emerson is a visual arts instructor for the Arts Center. Her full-time position with the Oldham county school district is a Creative Literacies teacher at South Oldham High School. She grew up in Oldham county graduating from Oldham County High School. Chandra attended the University of Kentucky for her undergraduate degree and Georgetown College for her master's degree. In 2013, she earned an Educational Specialist (EdS) degree in Teacher Leadership. She is Nationally Board Certified and has 29 years teaching experience. In 2008 Chandra was selected as Kentucky’s Teacher of the Year. She has studied at the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Louisville Speed Museum; and has also traveled to China with the University of Kentucky’s Confucius Institute to study and learn about Asian art and culture. She says, “I love to learn and teach the Arts. My greatest joy is working with children and providing them with artistic opportunities to learn and grow.”
