Visual Art Camps
General Camp Information: Campers may bring a snack and water bottle to camp, there will be a short break during the 3-hour morning and afternoon sessions.
Full Day Campers: Combine 2 camps, AM & PM, campers bring a sack lunch and stay for supervised lunch period (12:15-12:45pm) at no additional cost.
Half Day Campers: Campers who wish to include the lunch period (12:15-1:45pm) may do so for an additional $50 per week. *Use the "Extended Stay" option when registering. Campers bring a sack lunch.
Extended Stay: We offer early drop off and late pick up. Parents may drop their children off at 8:30am and pick them up at 5:15pm for an additional $50 for the week and includes supervised activity time. Your child must be enrolled in a camp that corresponds to the early drop off (AM camp) or late pick up (PM Camp) times * Use the "Extended Stay" option when registering.
Please combine camps according to age group within the same week. Suggested combinations are listed. For different combinations, please call the office at 241-6018. Deposit is due at sign-up (non-refundable), remaining balance is due by the 1st day of camp. Parent Permission Forms must be completed and submitted by the 1st day of camp. All camps take place at the OCS Arts Center.

Mixed Media Portraiture (Grades 5-8) 9am-12pm
Students will have a great time being expressive and making a variety of portrait themed artworks, both human and animal, with a variety of media including watercolor, acrylic paint, oil pastel, and collage. Students will also see & discuss a wide range of famous works from Cubist, Surrealist and Contemporary Mixed Media artists.

Drawing (Grades 1-5) 9am-12pm
Campers will learn tips and techniques to improve their drawing skills They will draw a variety of fun subjects such as animals, robots, people, landscapes and much more! Campers will use several different drawing materials such as pencil, colored pencils, pen, and charcoal.

Painting (Grades 5-8) 1-4pm
Campers will learn strategies to start painting and also to improve their skills. They will learn how to mix colors and use different brushes for different effects. They will paint several fun subjects such landscapes, animals and more by using watercolor, guache and acrylics. All levels are welcomed!

(It’s Almost) Christmas in July (Grades 1-5) 9am-12pm
Are you missing Christmas and sad because we are only halfway there? Don't worry, if you are ready for Christmas this is the class for you! We will play Christmas games, read Christmas stories, and make lots of Christmas crafts! Each day will have a different Christmas theme!

Figure Drawing and Painting (Grades 8-12) 9am-12pm
Throughout the week, campers will learn the basics of figure drawing starting from simplifying the skeleton and observing major muscle groups that are critical to creating believable form!
Campers will use a variety of drawing media and techniques to develop their figure drawing skill and explore their own unique figure drawing style.

Painting Picassos (Grades 1-5) 1-4pm
Explore the wonderful medium of paint with a variety of painting activities. Campers will have the opportunity to roll their sleeves up and paint both abstract and realistic masterpieces. Send your camper in clothes that can be paint splattered because we are going to create some beautiful messes!

Escape Room (Grades 5-8) 1-4pm
Escape Room Games are incredibly exhilarating and exciting - but so are making your own! Campers will work as a group to create a backstory for their escape room and then create clues and puzzles that would need to be solved in order to "escape" the room. Parents and families will have a chance to try to escape the room the campers created on the last day of camp.

AAARg! Ever want to be a pirate? Now is your chance! Create your own pirate gear and head out on your very own pirate mission to find the hidden treasure! You may even take the chance to hide your own!

This camp will introduce young artists to the basics of color theory. Students will explore the relationships of color through a variety of media, such as watercolor, collage and more! Young artists will create unique masterpieces dabbling in the exciting world of color.

Rube Goldberg is our inspiration as we design and create our own chain-reaction type “machine” similar to the Mouse Trap board game! This workshop allows students to bring their wildest inventions to life and help ignite that fire of creativity!

Ready to put on your own puppet show? In this workshop we will be creating a variety of puppet pals using different crafting methods. At the end of the week, we will create our own scripts in order to put on a show using the puppets we have just created!

As an artist, you can walk outside and see colors, shapes, and ideas that can inspire your own creations. In this workshop, we are going to use our natural environment as well as the power of the sun to create our own vibrant pieces of art!

Coding for Art (Grades 3-6) 1-4pm
Coding is the future of art. Campers will learn to use block coding to create animations and games. Block coding games can be very simple or very complex, it's all up to the programmer! Kids can create mazes, clicking games, chasing games, pong games, or even adventure games with full storylines. NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED. We will start with the basics and move at each camper’s level. Campers are encouraged to bring their own laptop, Chromebook, or tablet. But we will have Chromebooks available to use during the camp.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and unleash your creativity at our Plein Air Painting Summer Art Camp! Open to students in grades 6-12, this camp offers the perfect blend of outdoor exploration and artistic expression, where participants will learn essential techniques while surrounded by inspiring landscapes.
