All County Summer Orchestra (Gr. 6*-12)
Summer Junior Orchestra (Gr. 3* & up)
Mondays 5:30-7pm

Avoid the "summer slump" with a weekly orchestra experience! Session culminates with a concert on July 28 after class.
WHO IS IT FOR? This program is recommended for all current Junior Orchestra, CAPAA Strings and Campus Orchestra students to continue their strings studies over the summer. Summer Orchestra is also highly encouraged as the next step for Beginning Strings students, ready to move up to Junior Orchestra in the Fall, all rising 6th grade students transitioning to Campus Orchestras in the Fall, and anyone auditioning for CAPAA Strings. Private lessons and Suzuki Strings students are welcome to join Summer Orchestra as a supplement to their regular studies.
WHAT ABOUT NEW STUDENTS? Students new to the Oldham County Strings Program are also welcome, but it is recommended that they have a minimum of one year of strings class or private lessons experience, OR recommendation from a teacher to participate in summer orchestra. If you are a beginner wanting to get started in strings, we recommend registering for OCSAC Strings Camp, July 21-25 or 8-week Summer Private Lessons. The Campus Orchestras, Beginning Strings, Private Lessons and Suzuki Strings also accept beginners in the Fall Quarter, which begins after Labor Day.
GROUP PLACEMENT Both groups meet at the same time, and may be combined for some parts of rehearsal. **Grades listed are general guidelines, as students will be placed by experience level.** If you have any questions about placement, please check with your music teacher, or email arts.center@oldham.kyschools.us
TUITION As part of the accredited Campus Orchestra program, Oldham County Public School students 6th grade and up (as of Fall 2025) may attend summer orchestra at no cost. Tuition is $135 for non-OC Public School students and ALL students under 6th grade. Financial aid is available to any student by request. WHAT IF I HAVE TO MISS SOME WEEKS? We understand that families may have summer travel plans, so attendance at all 8 rehearsals is not mandatory. We just ask that you please email the office, or notify your director the week prior if you will miss a rehearsal.
REGISTRATION:
Oldham County Public School students, rising 6th grade and up including CAPAA, Campus Orchestra, and 6th grade students transitioning to Campus Orchestra in the Fall.
Tuition: $0 (accredited program)
Non-Oldham County Public School students including homeschool, private school and other public school districts AND ALL students younger than 6th grade (Fall 2025).
